Hi Viv & Ian,

We arrived home safely with the new girls and they transferred easily to their new temporary home.

We will keep them apart from the existing girls for about a week, then introduce them to the main house and run.

They are beautiful girls and obviously well bred and healthy.
We are very pleased.

With kind regards

Chickens safely tucked up in their new home . They are wonderfully tame . Thank you so much. With all good wishes.

Update on chickens.

They are so fit , healthy and Hilarious.

Since lock down , children in the village have had a joyous time coming to feed them , learning where eggs come from and having a “chill time“.

Do hope that you are both keeping well.

Dear Vivian and Iain,

Just a note to say that we are delighted with our chickens that we brought home on Sunday. Dusty “Barred Rock”, Sky “Blue Bell” and Magma “Rhode Rock” have settled in really well. By the end of the day on Sunday they were happily feeding from our hands.

The following day they were all happy to be stroked and picked up. By there second morning we had our first egg followed by another the following day.

We are all over the moon with them, the boys can not wait for the sun to come up each day so we can let them out. The boys race into the garden each day after school to see the girls.

Thank you so much for all your help and advise.

Best wishes, Becky.

Hi Viv,

I brought 6 mixed hens in Sept 2017.

Having been a back garden hen keeper for many years, I know to my cost in the past how important it is to buy from someone who is DEFRA certified.

Viv and Iain sounded me out before meeting the hens! We discussed temperament, needs etc and they checked each hen very carefully.

March 2018 and I now have 6 of the sweetest, friendliest  girls I’ve ever had.

They were so calm it took my 5 year old grandchild just one day to learn how to pick them up carefully.

In full lay 5/6 eggs per day.

I’m very proud of them!:

Knowledgeable and caring, it was an absolute pleasure to buy our beautiful girls from Iain and Vivian. The hens are in tip top condition and are a delight to watch as they dust bathe and hunt for food in our garden. Knowing that we can call upon Ian and Vivian’s expertise with any questions is reassuring and option of bringing them back for  ‘bed and breakfast’ if we go away on holiday is a fantastic back up plan!

Salt and pepper have settled in nicely, their favorite place when I’m cooking 🙂

We really love them, they have fitted right in and Donald is enjoying the company too 🙂

Hi Vivian, it’s Jon who bought the red chicken and the bluebell with my daughter and son about 2 weeks ago. They’re doing well. The blue just laid her first egg! Thank you again.

Hey there, thanks again so much for our chickens, they seem to have settled into their coup really well. Thanks Sarah xx

Ha ha! Im already assessing how I can get Mark to make the run bigger! Yes I was surprised and thought the first egg was a trick egg from Mark. Def not though as had awesome poached eggs for lunch! X

We absolutely love the hens! Xx

Hello Vivian

The hens have settled in really well with my other birds and are really happy.

Hi Vivian and Iain
We are delighted with our new chickens who have settled very quickly.  They are very friendly, introduced themselves very politely to our existing chickens and started laying immediately. Looking forward to getting some more from Vivian and Iain who were most helpful.”

Good morning,
Just to let you know the 3 hens that I picked up on Wednesday and have settled in very well. They did remember each other! However pecking order did soon settle in but all settled back down and they are getting on so well. There was a egg laid in transport on the way home haha and have been getting eggs everyday off all of them 🙂 thank you so much!
Kind Regards

Subject: Re: Julian and Jasper’s chickens!

Hi Vivian and Iain,

We came home from school – and found an egg!

Who laid it, Julian’s Ginger (Goldline) or Jasper’s Roxie (Rhode Rock)?

Ginger seems a lot calmer to Roxie today, which is a relief to us all! Roxie let Jasper stroke her for at least 5 secs just now too!

Chickens have settled in really well.  We had 2 eggs on Saturday, 3yesterday and 5 today! I cooked up the vegetable peelings on Sundayfrom our lunch, which they loved.  We love watching them and getting to know their characters.  Best wishes, Sarah (and boys)
They certainly seem very settled which is lovely ?
Hi Vivian – yes no problem.  Girls are in great condition and love roaming around the garden when we are at home.  Our dog has also been great with them and we are loving all the eggs! Best wishes to you both, Sarah
